rafah city, signaling a ground invasion. is imminent right now. idf troops are calling on people living in the eastern neighborhoods closest to israel's border, to move towards expanded humanitarian zones, and morsi, israel says its army has expanded assistance into the area that does include field hospitals, tents, food and water. the idf says it's using fliers, maps and text messages, as well as phone calls to instruct gazans on where to go. israel is describing this as a limited scope operation and says it is large scale. about 100,000 residents are being urged to temporarily evacuate as of right now. israel also saying it will not put a time frame on evacuations. this all coming as the latest round of cease fire talks between israel and hamas are nearing collapse. one of the main sticking points hamas's demand that any agreement must include an israeli troop withdrawal and full end to the war in gaza.

israel is refusing to accept that term, saying hamas isn't serious about reaching a deal. the latest proposal called for the release of some israeli hostages in exchange for a temporary cease fire. prime minister benjamin netanyahu has been vowing to invade the war torn enclave for weeks. he says the invasion will happen with or without a cease fire deal. israel claims rafah is hamas's last stronghold in gaza. the us has been putting pressure on israel to avoid such an invasion, with the white house saying it will not support it. a rafah offensive without a credible plan to protect the civilians seeking refuge there. and right now, it is not clear when an israeli ground offensive might start. but israeli and egyptian officials have recently told the wall street journal the first few weeks will consist of evacuations. more than a million people are estimated to live in the entirety of rafah. the report goes on to say fighting in rafah is expected to last for at least six weeks. again, if you are just now joining us, israel's military

and killed and kidnapped and raped and took hostages back with them these people need to be defeated how is israel supposed to coexist, to live side by side alongside and next to these people? they talk about displaced people or 80000 israelis that right now displaced from the north they have to live it. i saw them they are living in hotels or kids are going to school online and conference room and hotels. they cannot go north because hezbollah's attack in northern israel this is a time we need to have not a weak and feeble president of someone who makes it very clear that we are on israel's side. though the good guys in this fight and hamas are the evil ones. these terrible civilian casualties that are happening is because hamas is using them as human shields. shannon: a lot of people as we watch these campus protests and demonstrations spread would agree nobody what siblings to be killed and his process. but many of those cases they clearly cross the line to threaten fellow students for those kind of things. we're here now from international student student speaking up they were because

11:13 pm
difficult one for republicans. you seem to be of the mind is that you need to embrace it and try to control the conversation and a better way and actually talk about it, not run from it. democrats though feel that it is a great case to make against you. here's the bison president in florida days ago when the six week ban in florida i went into effect. >> since roe was overturned, every time reproductive freedom has been on the ballots, the people of america voted for freedom. [applause] quick florida supreme court set an abortion measure can be on the floor about there in november. how worried are you about that motivating the base? >> what i am more worried about no one ever asked the bison president or any democrat what restrictions do they support? which abortions should not be allowed cosmic they never tell you should someone be allowed to do an abortion on the date of birth? is it afte afterbirth? nine months? past the point of viability?
11:14 pm
they will never tell you which abortions should not be allowed there demanding to know what exceptions you support? they never state which restrictions they would support they are extremists. they believe abortion should be allowed at any time for any reason and paid for by taxpayers. no one ever asked her that. no one asked the democrats that. someone should start asking what their position is on that and that we can define one o are the policy options here? i've never viewed abortion as a particle issue. it's a moral issue is a conflict between two rights the woman's right to choose and it on worn human beings like to live it. i are on the site of life there is no right to speech, there is no right to vote, there's no right to do anything if you're not alive gift of laws divide human life. these people will never say what abortion should be allowed they are extreme as their radical extremists it is journalistic malpractice for kamala harris to
11:15 pm
repeatedly do interviews and never be asked. kamala harris what abortion should not be allowed in america? at what point is it too far into bad? never answers, never, never. she is an extremist and they are extremists. thirty-six for democrats willing to come on the show and how we do have that conversation with them but i agree with you it seems like they also will to coalesce around a message where their limits are and many cases but he forgot you're in florida spending time with president trump. everyone says you're on his vp shortlist but that there may be a technical glitch with having two people from the same state when it comes down to an electoral college vote. would you leave the state of florida or change or residency of your asked to join the ticket? >> personally vice presidential point for donald trump is made by one person, that is donald trump at all this other stuff a speculation but i get it, political reporters have to cover political topics for the primaries overcome the general six months away. they're going to spectate on the bp. here's the good news, i sought this weekend, the amount of talent that we have and the republican party is extraordinary but he does not
11:16 pm
just have a bunch of choices for bp has a bunch of choices for cabinet. he is going to have extorted a group of talented people to conserve this country and multiple roles. that is a decision he is going to have to make. i would just say leaving me aside for a moment i think before anyone decides to move from their state you better make sure you move to a state where there's not some d.a. makes a career after going after republicans. what we are seeing all over the country is the weaponization of criminal justice. not just dr. donald trump which is well document invite and supporting judgment. a biden prosecutor on ridiculous charges of the rest of the world is watching that saying this is the stuff that america used to sanction other countries for doing great what's happening here in america. you need to be focused on because that has an impact on people's thinking about getting into politics. shannon: okay, so if you do move, not tdr. that will not be your choice of got that. [laughter] >> that is a pretty good guess on that one that is for sure. shannon: if you decide if you think it tells about that or
11:17 pm
want to consider your residency elsewhere it le and let us know senator, thank you. >> thank you. shannon: m has house a democratic congressman tried to rank them over the house intel committee. congressman, great to have you with us in. i went to sartre where he did with the center at what's unfolding in israel but hamas taken credit for a shelling that is called israeli casualties closing in eta crossing was at the whole purpose? it does not sound like they are reliable negotiators. ten in the hostages home. >> yes of course they're not good faith negotiators for they are terrorists, right? they will do whatever they need to do to advance their own interest rate now any negotiation predict the negotiations like this people have interest. even if they are terrorists and obviously hamas has an interest and is ceasing at least temporarily the obliteration of their military capabilities. you never sound too optimistic about any negotiation in the middle east.
11:18 pm
but, we can get whatever it is a temporary break in the fighting so that the hostages can be released, that's the thing that never gets mentioned here. that would be a good step in the right direction. i you give me one minute i worked very closely with marco rubio we are both in the gang of eight i don't think i've ever seen him as over caffeinated this morning he said you never asked democrats on the topic of abortion or they should be. bologna, malarkey, as you know prior to the dobbs decision and the supreme court democrats and most of american supported the concept of roe v wade the concept was you could have an abortion up to the point of viability. states could decide what that was. and again, i'm not quite sure if marco had too much coffee this morning by the notion we are extremists on this topic is just madness. shannon: i have asked a number democrats or multiple states in this country that do allow abortion until a due date. that is factual. best democrats whether they are okay with that many of them have had a very hard time answering that question for me.
11:19 pm
>> but shannon, here is the thing. if an abortion occurs prior to natural birth it does not occur because mom says i change my mind. it occurs there is the rarest of the absolute rarest of medical advance that puts the life of the mother in danger or the life of the child in danger. to have marco rubio going national television they democrats are extremists who believe he should be able to kill a child? frankly that's what's wrong with our politics you know that it i know that. again those situations where a mother has carried a baby to term and something happens in the last week, that's the most horrendous of situations and if the doctor says you are going to die if you deliver, that is the most horrendous and personal of situations but it is also vanishingly rare. you know and i don't base and with the people of kansas did in their site about abortion that in this country most americans believe, as most democrats
11:20 pm
believe, this is a decision up to the point of viability that should be made by a woman and her doctor. but not a bunch of guys wearing ties in susan national legislature. >> the institute has been wide with planned parenthood so clearly not a pro-life organization. they document this and say they're actually thousands of late-term abortions. third trimester abortions every year. people do have to have a conversation about the fact that does happen. >> yes, that is right. again, both lately abortions are medically related. the idea is there's women out there who carry a child for seven months and needless to say i have not carried a child but if you carried a child for seven or eight months the ideas lots of women say guess what, i don't to do this, that's just not what happens i'm not looked at the marker number, this is a country of three and 33 or three and 40 million people.
11:21 pm
again, all i am saying for marco rubio to say nobody ever asks democrats in particular where they are on abortion, nonsense democrats are generally where the american people are which is where the world was before the dobbs decision that until the point of viability this is a decision to be made between a woman and her doctor. shannon: will see states are hammering this out there is a patchwork that's very, very diverse across this country but let me get back to the middle east i want to make sure we get you on this. there's a number of senators who are now worried about the fact the administration seems to be come according to numerous reports considering the idea bring people hear from gaza. a number of senators who are worried about the guard rails on the rent to the president sync this with more than one third of gazans supporting the hamas militants we are not confident your administration can adequately vet high at risk population for terrorist ties and sympathies before admitting them to the u.s. by this comes on the heels of inspector general report from dhs saying they really blew it repeatedly
11:22 pm
with afghan vets, excuse me and vetting refugee saying this. dhs may have been better paroled individuals into the u.s. who pose a risk to national security and the safety of local communities. they admit there is a lot of trouble with doing this with afghan refugees. are you confident you can tell the american people the people coming from gaza will be a properly vetted before they take up residence here? >> what i can tell you is this is not a saying in. the only way people can apply for refugee status a is if theyo where they are. where they are beginning a very lengthy process of vetting. once they are vetting whatever location they are further vetted by dhs and then they are admitted. as over caffeinated florida senators want to be selling an awful lot of fear right now. come up with examples refugees who have been vetted come to this country and committed acts of terrorism.
11:23 pm
the reason that's a hard thing to do is because it has not happened. now, no process is perfect it. the point is it's not a thing there is no capacity in gaza right now to even yvette peoplen the ground. while we welcome to new to admit refugees from the world as i is our international legal obligation it is a very strong vetting process but i understand lots of people have an interest in painting joe biden as a week and generating a lot of fear but the reality as it is really, really hard to find examples of vetted refugees who have come to this country and committed an act of terrorism or even a crime. to be six no, no, no we have covered a number of cases people come here on paroles and vetting's and have committed crimes you can quibble on the issue of terrorism but dhs itself says elite miss the mark on a lot of afghan refugees. it is up to them we wish them the best administrations has a no announcement on that we do not even know or have details on a potential part of congressmenn we appreciate your time thank you. >> think you come shand coming up will take you live to one of the universities rocked by anti-

"washington post" says this attorney general american gardeb and announcement disease rescheduling marijuana under federal law was one of the latest turn and what biden's advisor c is a political strategy. along with issues such as student loan relief will get to a climate policy to unlock both this fall. is this just potable pandering? >> i don't think it is a may be helpful politically but one thing hear from biden advisors all the time is he is not giving credit for any of this his numbers among young voters are not where they need to be to win as a democrat he is done student loan, we'll talk about that later based on some of these issues and is not getting credit for. i actually think they believe it's good policy in part because it means or could be additional research. research is much easier to do if they reclassify marijuana.

we can learn more about it. this is something democrats have wanted to do for a long time and something ate large majority of americans across the political spectrum, not just democrat support rates were those issues that's really popular including among young people of all political persuasion. shannon: to your point about the trouble with the youth vote cnn says biden is trailing trump by a shocking 11 points among young people. in a close election were small parts of the electric and swing states will determine the outcome, a depressed youth vote could be devastating. horace, does the pot stuff get thstop getthem back on the bide? >> i'm very, very disappointed a serious issue like this is being handled as merely a political issue. now, i believe in a self government system like we have that we do take a lot of the public policy issues to the american people. what we have already witnessed with the pot legalization has been an abysmal disaster.

the least among us are the ones most likely to be harmed and for this and president to refuse to go to congress and get an up or down vote on this and get everybody on the record the way our founders intended is an example of how he would rather ignore the evidence, use his executive power, put this in place and then let the working class that many minorities in the inner-city suffer very significant. shannon: is using executive powers student loan forgiveness the committee for responsible told alto these are the estimate cancellations commit $1.4 trillion. the executive action they say this most of the student debt cancellation policies have not only been costly but also inflationary, they targeted to lower-colower cost and not finay justified. so katie, a lot of young people

shannon: jeff, how word is the white house about the young voter? if so think they're really worried i see that and how defensive they are about the campus protests. i have heard from aids and in an effort to dismiss the protests in a way i think shows defensiveness and shows they're actually really worried and you saw of course they played this early the president coming on speaking about the protest this week. there is a reason that all of these -- we are talking about these issues they have a problem with the youth and they needed to beat former president trump. shannon: david brooks has an interesting read in the "new york times" also about how the protest actually could enter it to the benefit of president trump because of the way a kind of shows at democrats as the most educated elites now and republicans of the working party folks at least. >> is a bit chaotic as well. in a big shift. panel thank you very much we'll see you next sunday. getting the inside scoop on the life of legendary broadcaster barbara walters.
