inspection records at its production facility in south carolina. boeing told its employees in a letter that some of its workers on the 787 dreamliner assembly line in south carolina may have skipped some required tests or falsified records, the company says it became aware of the issue after one employee reported an irregularity to a manager last week. no planes have been taken out of service, but boeing says it is taking corrective measures. >> san francisco assemblyman matt haney has introduced a new bill to regulate the sale of kratom. it's an herbal supplement that can be bought in smoke shops and online. in its natural state, kratom has long been used in southeast asia for medicinal and therapeutic purposes, but the products sold in the us are not regulated by the fda, which haney argues is leading to the sale of very potent and potentially dangerous products. >> you can buy a bottle that's this big, that has one, set of ingredients and the same size

bottle has exponentially hundreds of times more potency because it's synthetic. just like with anything else you buy that can have impact on your body, you should know what's in it. it should be labeled, it should have age requirements, and if you choose to buy something, you should know what you're buying. >> haney's bill, known as the kratom safety act, would ensure kratom products sold in california contain safe ingredients and would raise the age limit for buying those products to 21 years old. the california state senator says she believes self-checkout stands are contributing to a rise in shoplifting. >> there is a new proposal now in sacramento that would slow down the rollout of those stands. ktvu tom vacar has this story. >> welcome. >> if you have your la senator, lola smallwood, cuevas says self checkout lines are a freeway to theft. >> in fact, self-checkout machines cause about 16 times more loss than cashier checkout stands, with an estimated 10

caught. >> for those of us in law enforcement, we understand that deterrence comes from the fear of getting caught, not from the harshness of the punishment. >> shoppers we met say the proposed law probably needs to be refined and negotiated in a way, i think it's a start. >> yes, it kind of forces the businesses to think about it more than just kind of letting it go. >> whether or not it needs to be an actual law. that would be a secondary question for me. i would have to look into that one. >> you can be sure that a lot of retailers and a lot of other powerful economic interests are in opposition to this law, and they will use that power and that influence to try to change it. we'll see what happens. tom baker, ktvu, fox two news checking in on the weather right now. >> we've got some fog coming in over the hills and it's windy. napa got 30 mile an hour wind gusts right now. the fog is blowing in. it's also blowing apart. we'll see a little patchy
6:50 pm
fog tonight. and tomorrow morning. and then it's the winds go more northerly. we're expecting to see the fog kind of get brushed away. let's come in real close here and i'll show you the fog. this is a visible satellite and that just shows you see the fog kind of coming in across the avenues and you see the holes, see the big holes right there. that has a lot to do when you get strong winds. it tears up that fabric of the fog. but you can see a bunch of it. so with that, the winds are already having an impact on the forecast and on the weather. the current weather, there's that 30 mile an hour gust up in napa, 3232 mile an hour gusts at the oakland airport that's blowing. and then sfo sustained at 23, but probably gusting to 30. i would guess i would imagine. and so with that in mind, the winds tonight breezy, the winds the next couple of days, breezy. the main thing is the winds are going to start coming more northerly. that will increase the temperatures around here. it'll create sort of a compressional environment where the air sinking and warms. and we've talked about that before. it'll also tear the fog away from the coast or it should. so that'll help warm coastal locations. and this week could be the first low 90s we see in

the central valley of the week. maybe wednesday, maybe thursday, maybe saturday. we'll see in the in sacramento and the sacramento valley be the first of the year for them. we could we could see that happen. i think they would have to happen in our far inland bay valleys like fairfield in those spots. so keep an eye on it for you either way, here's the story. wins a deal. the wind is going to peak on wednesday. see that bull's eye in the central valley wednesday into wednesday afternoon? that could actually trigger some kind of fire concerns, because we're going to have a number of dry days before, you know, tomorrow and then wednesday. we've had a few dry days. you're going to have the wind on top of that. so it's definitely something there's a wind advisory that will be in effect tuesday night through wednesday. but that central valley out by winters and davis and sacramento you know that corridor. the winds are going to funnel. so that is sort of the plan. the temperatures tomorrow will warm a couple of degrees. and then they really that start to warm when the winds clock more out of the north. and that happens on
6:52 pm
wednesday thursday, friday, saturday. so upper 80s right. i mean that's nothing to sneeze at. although sneezing will be a thing because of the tree pollens with all the wind blowing, the tree pollens will be moving around. >> nice transition there. yeah. >> so thanks mike. so there we go. there's five day forecast. no rain in this one jules. >> all right. looks good and warm. bill thank you. >> bill. coming up next in sports the 2024 class for the bay area sports hall of fame is ing
